LRHS Band News and Notes

As you are probably aware, Governor Cooper decided to keep schools online through the end of the school year. I know there will be a lot of questions on how things will move forward but this is all the information that I can share at this point.

  1. High School Students (9-11):  Students will be given a choice between (1) a numerical average and (2) a Pass / Withdrawal for the final grade.  For yearlong courses, the fall semester grade will be counted in the GPA but the choice remains for the spring semester work.
  2. Leesville Road High School will be releasing details regarding the process for opting in to numerical grades next week once NC DPI and WCPSS have made some final decisions regarding this process. When I receive this information, I will pass this information along to you in a timely manner.

Assignments: We are continuing to use SmartMusic.com, Google Classroom, and SightreadingFactory.com to turn in assignments. If you have any issues, please email Ms. Montgomery (amontgomery@wcpss.net) or Ms. Tippett (tippettog@appstate.edu)

Band Banquet: At this point, due to the school closure, we will be rescheduling the Band Banquet to be a Google Meet Video meeting. We will hold this meeting on the same calendar date – June 5th at 6:00pm. Please still keep that date reserved. More information will be coming.

Junior Meeting:  There will be a Junior meeting for ALL Juniors to discuss plans for the upcoming Band Banquet on Friday, May 8th at 2:00pm. This meeting will use the Google Meet Code:    lrhsband  .

For NEXT YEAR’s Symphonic Band 2020-2021 Members ONLY:

  1. For those students that auditioned and made the Symphonic Band for 2020-2021, please join our Google Classroom using the code: jn4tdk2     This is how we will be communicating, so PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE REGISTERED and KEEP UP-TO-DATE with this classroom!
  2. We will hold a Colorguard INTEREST meeting at 1:00pm on FRIDAY (May 1st). If you are interested in learning more about the colorguard, log onto the new 2020-2021 Google Classroom and click on the Google Meet link in the banner.
  3. The Drumline and Front Ensemble will be holding a similar INTEREST meeting on MONDAY (May 4th) at 7:00pm. If you are interested in learning more about being a part of the Drumline and/or Front Ensemble, log in to the new google classroom and click on the Google Meet link in the banner this coming Monday.
  4. In this Google Classroom, you will find the music for our Marching Show for the fall. Feel free to jump in and start practicing it! You will need to memorize this by Band Camp in July.
