Instructions for All-District Band to be held on Saturday 7 Jan 2023 at Willow Springs High School – 1704 Old Honeycutt Rd, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526
DRIVERS:
Students will provide their own transportation to and from Willow Springs High School due to differing audition times. Look at the attached list to find other students with similar audition times as you. Feel free to carpool together!
MONEY:
Depending on when your audition time is, you may want to bring money for concessions or a snack. Check your time and plan accordingly.
UNIFORM:
This audition is blind (the judges will not be looking at you). Please do be aware that you represent Leesville High School. If you want to make a good impression, then dress in that manner. At any rate, you’ll make some sort of impression…you decide….
EQUIPMENT:
Please note that you need to carry your instrument, music, etc. home with you Friday as the school will not be open on Saturday!!!
MUSIC:
Make sure you have what you need. Please DOUBLE CHECK that you have the CORRECT SOLO!
SCHEDULE:
Here is the schedule. If a student does not register by the posted starting audition time, they will not be eligible to audition.
NOTE:
Please double and triple check http://ncecdba.com/! Click on 2022-2023 High School All-District Solo List and scroll to your instrument and double check to make sure you are playing the correct exert. Also double check to make sure you are playing the correct scales and the correct number of octaves.
All scales must be memorized and performed in 2 ½ minutes. Students will see the scales/articulation listed using their starting pitch, not concert pitch, and scales will follow the same order as the sheets posted on the CDBA website. On the actual sheets, the articulation to be used for each scale will be indicated in the column on the right. Following the scale room, you will go to the solo room, and then the sight reading room. Some instruments will play everything in the same room – depending on the number of students auditioning.
Each student has a suggested arrival and warm-up time, and an estimated window for their audition time. Auditions may run later than this, but they will not call a student before his/her time. DO NOT START WARMING UP TOO EARLY! Save your chops.
I will be at Willow Springs all day, but will be judging. If I don’t see you, GOOD LUCK!!!
