Band News and Notes

Hello LRHS Band Families,

I hope this finds you all well.  I only have a few updates for you this week.  We are all finding ourselves in an unexpected situation, so please be patient as plans seem to be changing daily.

I do want to thank the parents who volunteered their time selling tickets at both the Small Ensembles Concert in February and the Festival Concert in March.  I would also like to thank all of those who helped organize the reception after the Festival concert.

Spring Trip refunds:  We are working with the various companies involved with both spring trips to negotiate refunds.  These groups are overwhelmed with cancellations and refund requests.  We will keep you posted on the refund and reimbursement process.  We expect this to take several weeks, but hope to have it worked out before the end of this school year.

Symphonic Band audition information from Ms. Montgomery:  If students plan to audition for Symphonic Band, please send Ms. Montgomery a LINK to a VIDEO recording of your audition by Thursday, March 26.  She needs to see YOU playing your instrument in the video as well as see the music. She encourages students to use Screencastify (FREE -see link:  ScreenCastify)  so that she can see the student AND the music. If that doesn’t work, please take a picture of the music and send it with the link to the video.   For the scales, students are to play all 12 major scales and arpeggios in all-district range as well as your chromatic scale. After playing scales, please play the all-district solo or something similar in difficulty.

Upcoming dates:

March 24 – Our LRHS Band Out to Eat Night at Chipotle has been postponed until at least May.  Stay tuned for updates!

April 25 – TENTATIVE – Barbecue Fundraiser
