NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. Donations and Volunteers needed for the Football Game Symphonic Band Hydration Station and upcoming Symphonic Band Performances:
The Hospitality Committee is in need of some donations. Here is the info on how you can help:
a) We are looking for a couple volunteers to help serve water and drinks to students after performances and during the game.

b) Donation Request: Thank you to all who brought in their soft drink donations a few weeks ago. Not all donations came in and we are still in need of soft drinks for the upcoming games and competitions. If you haven’t yet sent in your donation earlier in the season, please send them in at drop off before this Friday’s game (10/7)
Current need: 13 cases (12 packs) of Sprites/clear sodas and 7 cases (12 packs) of Coke/Pepsi. We have plenty of water donations.
Softdrink assignments:
Please send in the item requested listed for each instrument: ‘Sprites’ can be Sprite, 7-Up, or Sierra Mist, and ‘Cokes’ can be Coke or Pepsi. Please, no store brands.
Assignments were as follows:
- Saxophones, French Horns – (Cokes)
- Flutes – (Waters)
- Bassoons, Trumpets, Cornets, Percussion, Clarinets – (Sprites)
- Euphoniums, Basses/Tubas, Oboes, Trombones – (Waters)

2. Important Upcoming Fundraising Opportunity: Fundraising is an excellent way for families to offset their student’s band costs and one of our big yearly events is gearing up for its launch soon. It will be discussed in detail at the next Bands Club Meeting on October 18th so please make an effort to attend that meeting to learn about this program. Here are some important dates for all families to consider regarding this fundraiser:
Fruit and Flower Sales Fundraiser:
Sale will run from 10/19 – 11/9
Stuffing Prep Day: Tues Oct 11th
Presentation Week: Oct 18 Bands Club, Oct 19Classes
Orders Due / Counting Day: Wed. Nov 9
**(Online Fruit orders will be open until Sunday Nov. 20)
Fruit & Flower Delivery Dates: Wed. 12/7 and Thurs. 12/8
Here is some more information about the upcoming Fruit and Flowers Fundraiser:
We are in need of volunteers to help with this fundraiser. The first few are needed next week to help stuff the fundraiser packets, while others are needed in November for Counting Day and in December for delivery days.

3. Updated Info on the Scrip/RaiseRight gift card program: Please Note: This program is a “Digital Gift Card” system. No physical cards will be supplied. Once purchased, families can access all of their gift cards in the RaiseRight app at any time. Further information about this fundraising program was included in last week’s Band News and Notes and the description is included in this newsletter in the “”Previous News and Notes” section. 4. Concert and Symphonic Band Spring Trip: The planning committee is busy putting together a great trip for these 2 bands. The Trip Commitment Forms and first payment are due October 18th. You can look for emails from Kristi and Melanie with exciting details in the coming weeks. Questions regarding the trip commitment forms or the trip in general can be directed to either a) Kristi Phillips (Ksphillips136@gmail.com) or b) Melanie Shoffner (mbshoffner620@gmail.com).
5. SB Senior Night Information: An email from Karyn Anglero with information about this event has already gone out to families of SB Seniors. All the details about how to honor your senior are included in that email but the important dates you need to know are:
- GAME FRIDAY – OCT 21ST 7PM
- DROP POSTER – BEGINNING OCT 12TH

- Please DROP OFF BY OCT 17TH

6. Fair Share Payments: We still have some outstanding fair share payments (see details in the Previous News and Notes section below). As a reminder, these were due 9/20/2022. This is an important part of how we fund a lot of the musical opportunities all 3 bands get to experience as part of the LRHS Bands Program. For example, many of the guest clinicians who come in to work with our students are funded through this program. Please make your payment as soon as possible or reach out to Mrs. Colburn for information on what assistance is available if this cost is difficult for you and your student.
