NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1. Winter Guard Clinics: Winterguard is the culmination of pageantry, artistry, and
athleticism. Commonly referred to as “The Sport of the Arts”, it combines aspects of
dance with elements of its roots in the military that have greatly evolved over time.
Students will spin flags, rifles, and sabres to a soundtrack and perform in various high
school gyms, competing against other groups to best showcase their skills. Groups are
either Scholastic (meaning they are associated with a school system) or Independent
(no affiliation to a school required, most Independent performers are college-aged or
older) and are then broken down into different classes based on skill level with the main
classifications being A, Open, and World with World Class being the most advanced.
Local competitive circuits will add in additional classes in order to maintain a fair
competitive atmosphere. At Leesville, we compete in the Atlantic Indoor Association
(AIA for short) South Division in the Scholastic A3 class. We finished our most
successful season to date last year by placing 5th out of the 9 groups in our class at AIA
South Championships and look forward to continuing the upward momentum that last
season created. I’ve included a link for a montage of the 2019 Winter Guard International
(WGI) World Championships that includes clips from different groups competing in
World Class that year.
