LRHS Band News and Notes Ed. 12

Important Dates:

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1. Upgrade Your Sound Event: 

Music & Arts, Crossroads Plaza in Cary, is hosting an “Upgrade Your Sound” Horns Showcase event on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022. Low Brass will be showcased at their Music and Arts store location, 426 Crossroads Blvs., Cary. All other instruments will be showcased at 115 Crossroads Blvd., Cary. Please see the attached flyer for more details and a map to both locations. It can be found using this link:

2. Priority Request from the Bands Club Board:

We have a priority need for a photographer and videographer for the concert/intermediate bands. The main job would be to record/photograph the concerts.  The winter concerts are fast approaching with intermediate/concert band/ jazz band winter concerts on December 15th and symphonic winter concert on December 16th.    If someone has a way to record or photograph the concert on equipment other than a cell phone, please reach out to Allison Bullard (abullard2@wcpss.net) or Ms. Colburn (acolburn@wcpss.net).  Without a videographer, we will need to pay someone to record the concerts. 

3. Fruit and Flower Fundraiser Delivery Update:

A past band parent donated over a 100 fruit bags for anyone to use if they wish. If you purchased fruit and planned to give it away as gifts these are great bags. They hold up to 8lbs of fruit. They will be available on Fruit pick up day. Bags will be available on a first come first serve basis unless you email Kelly Monce prior requesting some. See attached pictures

4. CB and SB Spring Trip Reminder: 

Third Disney trip payment due by Monday, December 5

The third payment of $250 is due no later than 12/5.  Checks made payable to LRHS Bands can be sent to school with your student and placed in the band room safe.  Payments can also be made via PayPal:  Making Payments via PayPal

Our VPs will provide important trip details in the weeks to come. In the meantime, keep an eye out for deals on these items during the holiday shopping season:  Disney Park Essentials

5. Capital Campaign Reminder:

Capital Campaign donations from Charms

Donations to the Capital Campaign can be made from your student’s Charms account. (Note that donations from fundraised money are not tax deductible.)  If you are interested in donating from Charms, please do the following:  1) send an email to studentaccounts@leesvilleband.org indicating the amount you wish to donate, and 2) complete the Capital Campaign form/information letter and send it to the bands club treasurer (see letter for address.)   Donations must be received by December 9th to be included in the Winter Concert Program, and March 3rd to be included in the MPA Festival Concert program.

6. Uniforms – Concert and Intermediate Band: 

For students that placed a tuxedo attire order (or sent in an alteration) with Savvi Formalwear, your tuxedo item(s) are ready to be picked up from Savvi.  When you pick up the tuxedo, please bring your band student and their formal wear shoes to try on with the tuxedo to confirm fit and hem. Savvi will perform alterations at no additional cost.

Most students have already paid for their tuxedos.  If you have not already paid, the payment will be due in full directly to Savvi at the time of pickup.  No appointment is necessary.

Date: Friday, December 9th and 16th

Location: Wildwood Greens Golf Course behind the Clubhouse in the back parking lot 

Time: after school until dusk (3-5 ish)

Bring: Shovels and gloves, sharpie pens,  and good counting skills

Snacks provided! 

Who: students and family/friends can volunteer

Luminary Kit Delivery Sign-Up Genius: All slots are filled and then some. Emails with details are coming soon!

Date: Friday, December 9th- Westlake Neighborhood delivery
