LRHS Band News & Notes, Ep. #10

Good Evening Band Families!

I hope that you are all doing well. This fall seems to be going by so quickly – and now we find our band program in the heart of competition and fundraising season. This newsletter has information about all of those things and includes a link for SB Families about pictures from the Rolesville Band Competition as well as information about this week’s events. Last night’s Bands Club meeting featured our IB in their first performance of the year. I wish I had been able to hear them but by all accounts they are off to a great start! Bravo Intermediate Band.

Our fundraising committee gave a presentation at last night’s Bands Club meeting about the upcoming “Fruit and Flowers”, “Luminaries”, and “Out-to-Eat Night” fundraisers. All that information plus relevant important links are included in this week’s newsletter. Of particular importance is the launch of this year’s Capital Campaign. I encourage you to read their letter about this valuable fundraising resource for our Band Program. For those of you not familiar with our Capital Campaign here is a short piece from their letter which demonstrates the support they provide to our program:

“It is once again Capital Campaign time and we need your help! Last year our Capital Campaign raised $17,700 in
donations! Thank you for your generosity. With these funds we were able to purchase a sousaphone and wall mounts, as well as a Concert tuba and storage racks. Our goal this year is to raise $25,000 which would enable us to replace
another aging sousaphone (a new one costs $12,000) and renovate the instrument storage room. Replacing the 30 year old shelving system will allow us to increase the storage capacity as our program continues to grow.”

Capital Campaign fundraiser donations will be accepted from now through the end of May.  Read the letter for more details and ways to donate to help purchase the Director’s wishlist items.  We realize many are fundraising for/paying for the Spring trip so consider forwarding the PDF letter onto friends, family, businesses, etc. We appreciate any and all participation.

As always, I thank you all for your time and support of our Bands Club newsletter, our students, bands, and directors. This week’s newsletter can be found here:

In closing, I would like to give a big “shout out” to this year’s Seniors! I will be joining many other families as we honor you all at this week’s FB Home Game (Thursday night).

Until next week – Take Care.
